I’ve always thought that tying my shoes was a pretty easy thing to do but with recent pairs of shoes I’ve had difficulty keeping the knot tied even when doubled-knotted. The other thing that bothered me with longer more rigid laces is that one side of the laces always twists itself and into my leg… why won’t it lie perpendicular to my foot as I tied it? As stupid as it sounds I never really questioned the knot… but I should have. Watch this TED Talk from 2005 and learn the most simple way to fix all of these issues. Loop it the other way.

Cool huh? So dumb to never have thought of that; it’s just you never really question the most simple things in life… Maybe sometimes you should. I know you’re retying your shoes after watching that. I did. Enjoy and spread the love.

When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and you’re life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money.

That’s a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.

Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.

Not Shaving in November, aka Movember

In lieu of the worldwide No Shave November, or Movember, I’m setup to do just that. I may not ~~(won’t)~~ ever get the beard/mustache volume as others, and it’ll be patchy and sparse but I’m going to deal with the scratchies and not shave. I’m no epic beard or stache gower by any means. But why? Why not?
Actually there’s a serious side to it and the point is to raise money for Prostate Cancer and the LiveStrong Organization. Last year they raised over $80.7 MILLION dollars… that’s good.

Movember 3rd Week

17 days through November… it’s not as itchy on the chin and neck but the upper lip thing is poking the shit out of me and that’s pretty annoying at this point. And the girl hates me right now for doing this month haha. And I did some sort of smile for Jeff so I don’t look like a killer guy.

The beard has really begun to start itching pretty bad on my neck. How much longer? aahgh

It’s been an emotionally draining week thus far; work load is crazy busy, a business idol of mine Steve Jobs passed… but life goes on and you do your thing. I found this video thanks to my buddy Matt Gist. Powerful stuff. All I have to say is spend the 15min to watch this. You’ll think differently after; think about what you have and realize that shit can always be worse. Be happy and live… and hold doors for people and smile and stuff.

Yes this is probably the coolest fucking video ever. The Red Bull Formula 1 car hits the dirt roads and city streets of Texas before going off-road onto the under-construction Circuit of the Americas track. The F1 Circuit of the Americas takes place in Austin, Texas on November 18, 2012

Watch this is 1080p and crank it up. It’s beyond amazing. I love you Red Bull for making this… thank you.

The track is actually pretty close to the Austin Bergstrom Airport (map)
OH… and MotoGP will be there too… so fucking excited for this.

Dubstep Mime Guy Videos

Sometimes you just need a little laugh. In our backchannel today Scott posted one of these videos and got me out of my client aggravation.
I like dubstep, it’s weird as fuck but I like it and it helps me get stuff done during the day with the rhythm. I typically can’t work with vocals in the songs so trance, techno and now dubstep takes over my ears during major work sessions. This guy just made my day though and made me laugh – here’s a couple of his videos.
